Should You…

Should you find it hard to get to sleep tonight;
Just remember the homeless family who has no bed to lie in.

Should you find yourself stuck in traffic; don’t despair.
There are people in this world for whom driving is an unheard of privilege.

Should you have a bad day at work;
Think of the man who has been out of work for the last three months.

Should you despair over a relationship gone bad;
Think of the person who has never known what it’s like to love and be loved in return.

Should you grieve the passing of another weekend;
Think of the woman in some third world country,working twelve hours a day, seven days a week, for $15.00 to feed her family.

Should your car break down, leaving you miles away from assistance;
Think of the paraplegic who would love the opportunity to take that talk.

Should you notice a new gray hair in the mirror;
Think of the cancer patient in chemo who wishes she had hair to examine.

Should you find yourself the victim of other people’s bitterness, ignorance, smallness or insecurities;
Remember, things could be worse. You could be them!!!

I Am Thankful…
  • FOR THE HUSBAND WHO COMPLAINS WHEN HIS DINNER IS NOT ON TIME,
    because he is home with me, not with someone else

  • FOR THE TEENAGER WHO IS COMPLAINING ABOUT DOING DISHES,
    because that means she is at home, not on the streets.

  • FOR THE TAXES THAT I PAY,
    because it means that I am employed.

  • FOR THE MESS TO CLEAN AFTER A PARTY,
    because it means that I have been surrounded by friends.

  • FOR THE CLOTHES THAT FIT A LITTLE TOO SNUG,
    because it means I have enough to eat.

  • FOR MY SHADOW THAT WATCHES ME WORK,
    because it means I am out in the sunshine.

  • FOR A LAWN THAT NEEDS MOWING, WINDOWS THAT NEED CLEANING, AND GUTTERS THAT NEED FIXING, because it means I have a home.

  • FOR THE PARKING SPOT I FIND AT THE FAR END OF THE PARKING LOT,
    because it means i am capable of walking and that I have been blessed with transportation.

  • FOR MY HUGE HEATING BILL, because it means I am warm.

  • FOR THE LADY BEHIND ME IN CHURCH THAT SINGS OFF KEY,
    because it means that I can hear.

  • FOR THE PILE OF LAUNDRY AND IRONING,
    because it means I have clothes to wear.

  • FOR WEARINESS AND ACHING MUSCLES AT THE END OF THE DAY,
    because it means I have been capable of working hard.

  • FOR THE ALARM THAT GOES OFF IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS,
    because it means that I am alive.

Remember Those Who Serve

In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10 year old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him. “How much is an ice cream sundae?”

“Fifty cents,” replied the waitress. The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and studied a number of coins in it. “How much is a dish of plain ice cream” he inquired

Some people were now waiting for a table and the waitress was a bit impatient. “Thirty-five cents,” she said brusquely. The little boy again counted the coins. “I’ll have the plain ice cream,” he said.

The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and departed.

When the waitress came back, she began wiping down the table and then swallowed hard at what she saw. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were two nickels and five pennies – her tip
